This Week’s Japanese Game Releases: Concrete Genie, Yo-kai Watch 1 for Nintendo Switch, more

Concrete Genie for PlayStation 4 and Yo-kai Watch 1 for Nintendo Switch are the highlights of this week’s Japanese game releases.

Developed by PixelOpus, a small team based in Sony Interactive Entertainment San Mateo Studio, Concrete Genie follows the story of a bullied teenager named Ash who escapes his troubles by bringing his drawings to life, while exploring his once bright and bustling hometown of Denska that has since been polluted by darkness. Equipped with a magical paintbrush, Ash must use its abilities to create Genies and eliminate the darkness polluting the town.

Yo-kai Watch 1 for Nintendo Switch is a remastered version of the original Yo-kai Watch first released for 3DS in July 2013. In addition to high-definition graphics, it also features online battles and compatibility with the Yo-kai Art and DX Yo-Seiken toys. Although the 3DS version was released in English, it should be noted that the Switch version does not have an English language option.
