A demo for Dragon Quest Builders 2 will launch for PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Store and Switch via the Nintendo eShop on December 6 in Japan, Square Enix announced during today’s Builders School Multiplayer Party broadcast.
The demo will only include the tutorial and a section of the first island. Players will be able to build, as well as experience some of the game’s new “Bulletin Board” element. The demo will not include multiplayer.
The company also shared new information on the above-mentioned “Bulletin Board” element and new “Builder Pencil” tool. Here are the details:
New Element: “Bulletin Board”
Share screenshots with other players through the Internet.
Screenshots can be captioned and tagged.
A Photo Mode is also included. Functions include move, rotate, zoom, roll, focus, shadow strength, and various filters.
The Bulletin Board is sorted by ranking. There are “Overall Ranking,” “Daily Ranking,” and “Tag-Specific Ranking.”
Various official contests are also planned to be held.
Outside of screenshots, there other ways to share your landscapes. Other players can visit your Vacant Island, and you can visit other players’ islands.
Both screenshots and landscapes can be viewed and visited regardless of PlayStation 4 or Switch platforms.
On load screens, a random Bulletin Board screenshot will be displayed.
New Builder Tool: “Builder Pencil”
A new tool that lets you scan things to create a blueprint.
You can scan a considerably large range, allowing you to create blueprints for even huge buildings.
You can own up to four copied “Scan Blueprints.”
A glimpse of the (incomplete) world map shows Vacant Island (top center), Occulm Island (middle center), and Monzola Island (right), as well as the small Material Islands called “Tufty Island” (top) and “Sodden Island” (bottom).
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is due out for PlayStation 4 and Switch on December 20 in Japan, and in North America and Europe in 2019.
