The mystery adventure game follows a young Jake Hunter (Saburo Jinguji) as he travels to New York to collect his murdered grandfather’s belongings and investigate his death. Here is an overview of the story, via our previous coverage:
It happened a month ago. Someone killed beloved grandfather Kyosuke Jinguji, who was living in New York.
Jake Hunter (Saburo Jinguji) arrives in New York to collect Kyosuke’s belongings and arrange his memories.
Jake’s reunion with the nostalgic cityscape and his old friends only lasted for a brief moment. He learns that Kyosuke was reading up on the word “Daedalus” until the moment of his death.
What is Daedalus? Why was Kyosuke killed?
“Saburo, grow the Mind Tree.”

Solve the Case with New Systems that Absorb You into the Story
Search the area using a 360-degree view, and read the facial expressions and emotions of others during conversation to extract information via the “Stance Change System.” By collecting information via exploration and investigation, your “Mind Tree” will grow and bear fruit, leading to the Clarification Phase. Make use of new systems from when the incident occurs to its resolution using new systems that are visually easy to understand and learn the truth.
During exploration, you can move the camera at 360 degrees, so you can play the game with the feeling that you’re actually standing in the scene. By moving the cursor over important key items and evidence left at the scene, letters will become visible, so be sure to investigate every nook and cranny. Also, by entering “Search Mode,” Jake enters a more concentrated state of mind, which highlights areas that have yet to be examined. When you are unable to find anything, use Search Mode to find hints.
—If Jake notices something, letters will appear on the screen.
Daedalus: The Awakening of Golden Jazz is due out for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC on December 13 in Japan.
