NieR: Automata theme song sung by J’Nique Nicole

Staff teases new gameplay demo for weekend concert.

NieR: Automata

J’Nique Nicole, a singer songwriter based in Tokyo, is the voice behind the theme song for NieR: Automata, which was previewed earlier this week, composer Keiichi Okabe confirmed in a Famitsu interview.

Elsewhere in the interview, game designer Takahisa Taura confirmed that attendees of the NieR Music Concert & Talk Live event in Tokyo this Saturday, April 16 will get a live gameplay demonstration of NieR: Automata.

“Yep,” Taura said. “The action of this game is of course NieR-ish, and I want everyone to pay attention to the unique atmosphere of Yoko’s work drifting about in the background. The sensations of light are portrayed well, and there’s also a daring backlight that is obscuring too. With that, we were able to show things not often seen in games.”

NieR: Automata director Yoko Taro added, “We’re going to give you a small look at an event scene in the form of a new video, but I think it’s quite an impressive one.”

Finally, producer Yosuke Saito chimed in, saying, “It’s a short video, but it includes a scene where fans will see that, ‘this character is that sort of person,’ so to speak.

NieR: Automata is due out for PlayStation 4 in 2016.
