PlayStation 2 turns 15 years old

Happy birthday, PlayStation 2.

PlayStation 2 is 15 years old today. The console first launched in Japan on March 4, 2000, following an international launch later that year.

The platform went on to become the best-selling video game console in history with over 155 million units sold. It has a software library of over 3,874 games, which have sold 1.5 billion copies.

15 years later, PlayStation 4 is surpassing milestones achieved by PlayStation 2, with Sony announcing yesterday that PlayStation 4 sold through 20.2 million units in the 15 months following release. In comparison, PlayStation 2 shipped 19.57 million units 18 months after release.

With the platform celebrating its birthday today, what is your favorite PS2 game or moment? Share yours in the comments.
