Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS sold over one million copies during its first week of sales in Japan (downloadable version included), Nintendo announced.

The game joins hits like Monster Hunter 4, Pokemon X and Y, and Yokai Watch 2: Ganso and Honke, all of which sold more than one million copies in their opening week.

Nintendo noted that as of the end of last week, it shipped over one million copies of the packaged version.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will launch in North America and Europe on October 3.
