From the art director of Thatgamecompany's Journey.

Abzu will take players on an adventure into hte depths of the oean, where majestic creatures and lost secrets are waiting to be encountered. It draws inspiration from “a deep, innate story that we all carry in our collective subconscious, a universal origin myth that resonates across cultures.”

The name references Mesopotamian mythology–a combination of the words “Ab,” for ocean, and “Zu,” for “knowledge”–making the game’s title mean “Ocean of Wisdom.”
