New Pokemon game featuring Pikachu in production

Development on new game started this summer.

Pokemon Company president and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara will appear on Japanese TV’s NHK Professional: Shigoto no Ryuugi on October 28.

NHK’s description of the Pokemon boss mentions the development of an all-new Pokemon game, possibly Pikachu-related.

“This summer, Ishihara started development on a never before seen game,” the description reads. “It’s a new game featuring the very popular character Pikachu in a bold way. There is concern, however, that if it’s bad the long loved character would lose popularity in the blink of an eye.”

The latest Pokemon games, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, launch worldwide for 3DS on October 12. (And I still don’t have a 3DS!)
