Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare has playable zombies

Two Xbox One-exclusive modes announced.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will have playable zombies, Electronic Arts confirmed during its Gamescom press conference.

Players will be able to personalize their favorite plants and zombies with hundreds of unique items.

The third-person shooter, which will launch first on Xbox One and Xbox 360, will also have two exclusive modes on Xbox One. The first is split-screen offline co-op. The second is Boss Mode, in which players control Dr. George Zomboss or Crazy Dave, and use Smartglass and Kinect to command hordes of zombies.

The game will be sold for $39.99 when it launches.
