First run versions of Twisted Metal will include a download code for the June 2001 version of Twisted Metal: Black, game director David Jaffe has revealed.
“Black was the first title where we really started get that darker world of Twisted Metal, so it’s kind of a look back to allow you to see where that all began,” said Jaffe in a holiday update on the PlayStation Blog. “We really feel this is the one that allows us to execute that original vision we had way back when on the first Twisted Metal.”
A Limited Edition box art for Twisted Metal was added to the post alongside the announcement. Though, Jaffe specifically mentions the download code for ‘first run’ versions of the game, and doesn’t mention the Limited Edition. My guess: all first run copies of the game are Limited Edition.
I’ll ask Jaffe on Twitter for confirmation.
Update (3:15 PM): Jaffe’s confirmed that all first print copies are Limited Edition.
“All first copies are limited edition, yes. My understanding is if u want the digital Black for free – and maybe at all – then [you] gotta get the first press of the new [Twisted Metal]. I’ve not asked but I imagine Sony MAY sell the game on PSN after, but I’m just guessing.”
