Netflix for Xbox 360 updated with Kinect support
Xbox 360‘s Netflix application received a Kinect-enabling update today. According to Xbox LIVE’s Major Nelson, Kinect for Xbox 360 features “an exclusive new recommendation channel that is controller-free and uses a smart engine to suggest movies or TV shows based on your viewing habits and instant queue.”
Though, that’s about all you can do. A message at the bottom of the Netflix for Kinect screen, reading “For more choices and search, use your controller,” has lead to complaints. Kotaku‘s Joel Johnson argues that this completely defeats the purpose of the update, and that Microsoft “has no idea what to do with Kinect”.
I must agree. What’s the point of using Netflix for Kinect if I can not access my Instant Queue?
If you’ve a Kinect ready, download the update now and try it out for yourself. Let us know what you think.
