Introducing Xbox LIVE Labs

Microsoft’s rolled out a new test application on Xbox LIVE today called Xbox LIVE Labs. This application, which is entirely optional, allows Microsoft to test and improve the Xbox LIVE service.

It’s available as a free download if you go on your dashboard. The program will have you doing three different tasks each with different time intervals. One requires for you to play for a consecutive 30 minutes; another requires a cumulative 6 hours. You’ll earn achievements and Avatar rewards for completing these tasks, but the achievements are worth 0 points. The Avatar rewards include a lab coat, brain helmet, and crazy mad scientist hair.

The program will run from today through March 27. If you’re interested, turn on your Xbox 360 and give it a download.
