More Questions Answered for PS3 Firmware v2.40
In-Game XMB is only compatible with PLAYSTATION 3 titles as of now, as “gamers wanted it for the PS3 first”. The custom soundtracks on the XMB are restricted only to the HDD, no computer streaming.
Where it gets a bit “yucky” is here in the development corner. They are not forcing developers to make the game automatically pause when the in-game XMB is accessed.
They say they are “working with developers to hit a deadline” for trophies, but it is not something they want to force on them since it is time consuming. Although, in reality, that is a bad thing to do. The new trophy system is here, and such as Achievements with Live, these should be required in all games. Developers obviously have time to implement achievements, am I right? They say that ultimately in the end all games will have trophies, though.
Only one game will be patched tomorrow during the update and that is Super Stardust HD, and all other games such as Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune will get an update in the foreseeable future.
Turns out I was wrong on this one. Games such as Devil May Cry 4 and Burnout Paradise that have saves locked into the PLAYSTATION Network account will not have their data rolled over to our trophies, which really sucks.
