MISTROGUE: Mist and the Living Dungeons is a roguelike action video game developed and published by Polyscape.

About

MISTROGUE: Mist and the Living Dungeons is a new type of strategic roguelike action game characterized by its “living dungeons” whose structure changes in real time.

In the “living dungeons,” rooms and passages are dynamically generated in front of your eyes. It may also set a trap like leading you to the “Monster House” filled with dangerous monsters. You fight through the living dungeons using vital equipment and skills, and the “Maze Stone” which enables you to change the dungeon’s structure.

Story

500 years ago, a kingdom was about to be destroyed by a calamity. Mages in the kingdom attempted to seal it in the maze and cast a forbidden spell on the maze to transform its shape in order not to unleash the calamity. The kingdom managed to survive the calamity but the forbidden spell gives life and awareness to the maze. Later, the influence of the magic reached the kingdom itself which left it ruined and changed it into the living dungeon.500 years later, a young treasure hunter Mist, living in the Lootgar, has decided to battle to uncover the mystery of the kingdom.

Key Features

  • Ever-Changing Living Dungeons – In MISTROGUE‘s “Living Dungeons,” rooms and passages in the dungeons are being generated in front of your eyes. Since the situation in the jail dynamically changes, you need to make decisions quickly on whether to go deeper or escape and to take the risk of traps for acquiring rare loot. You have to confront the living dungeons making full use of tactics and scheme.
  • Modify the Dungeons to Your Advantage – Combat isn’t the only way to battle against the living dungeons. You can restructure the dungeons using “Maze Stone,” which allows you to create new passages and rooms in the dungeon. While fighting against monsters, you need to think about how you modify the structure of the dungeons to your advantage.
  • Create Strong Skill Builds – All equipment such as weapons, shields, and bracelets have unique active and passive skills. Equipping different weapons and shields gives you the endless combination of skills—it might even give you the chance of “cheating the system.” Some combos will enable you to deal insane one-shot damage, while another combo might allow you to use a successive burst of rapid damage against surrounding monsters. Trading with Lupo (a Wandering Trader) is also an important factor you cannot miss to complete your skill builds.
  • High Replay Value – Your level and other stats are reset when you get out of the dungeons. Still, you can bring back money and items (weapons, shields, bracelets, medicine, spellbooks, reinforcement materials, etc.) obtained from enemies and bosses along the way. You can replay the game over time; strengthening your character with strong items, challenging even more difficult dungeons and acquiring even more powerful loot.
  • Combat Where Strategy and Action Coexist – In combat in MISTROGUE, you need to use different skills like attacking, dodging, having defense buffs, and healing according to enemies’ behavior. You need to combine these skills with different recast time and MP consumption. Since time slows down while opening item inventory, you can take time to judge whether or not to use a special item, and how you change equipment according to the situation.
  • Item Drops with Thousands of CombinationsMISTROGUE leaves room for rare item drops, even to ordinary monsters in the dungeon. You won’t be bored hunting the monsters just for EXPs, and there’s always a chance you might get legendary weapons by slaying the weakest monster.
