Falcom signs agreement with NEOWIZ for development and global release of The Legend of Heroes III: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch for consoles, PC

Falcom has entered into a licensing agreement with NEOWIZ for the development and global release of a PC and console title based on the Falcom-owned intellectual property The Legend of Heroes III: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch, the companies announced.

The game is the third entry in The Legend of Heroes series, originally released by Falcom in 1994 for PC-9801. A “poetic RPG” built around the concept of “the will to tell a story,” it was acclaimed as a unique RPG that placed an emphasis on detailed worldbuilding and storytelling.

The story centers on the pilgrimage of a young boy named Jurio and a girl named Christina in the world of Tirasweel, where an “epic story” unfolds through interactions with people they encounter along the way, relationships between characters that evolve as the story progresses, and musical performances that have left a lasting impression on players.

Together, The Legend of Heroes III: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch, The Legend of Heroes IV: A Tear of Vermilion, and The Legend of Heroes V: Song of the Ocean form the “Gagharv Trilogy.” Each game tells a story from the perspectives of different characters in different regions, and the trilogy serves as the origin of the Trails series.

In a survey conducted by game media in commemoration of Falcom’s 40th anniversary, the Gagharv Trilogy was voted number one in the “Titles or Series Fans Want Released on Current Hardware” category.

It is currently unclear what form NEOWIZ’s The Legend of Heroes III: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch will take.
