Soft Rains, a Toronto-based studio formed by former Bethesda Softworks, Capybara Games, Riot Games, and Ubisoft Toronto staff, and co-developer Blackbird Interactive have announced Ambrsia Sky, a science-fiction first-person “clean ’em up” action game where players are tasked with cleaning up and researching an unpredictable alien fungus contamination. It will be available for PC via Steam. A release date was not announced. A demo is available now.
“With Ambrosia Sky, we’re crafting something that feels totally unique while still being grounded in lessons learned from games we love, as well as some of the games we’ve helped create in our careers,” said Soft Rains studio head Joel Burgess in a press release. “The result is a game that could only be made by this team, at this moment, and we can’t wait to share that with players who are ready for something fresh.”
Soft Rains narrative director Kaitlin Tremblay added, “I’m really excited about Ambrosia Sky—the team has worked hard on making a special game about cleaning up after death, and the care that surrounds those acts. This game is representative of everybody who worked on it, who contributed to its particular identity, and I’m so proud of what we’ve made together as a team.”
Blackbird Interactive president and chief creative officer Rory McGuire said, “Partnering with Soft Rains to support Ambrosia Sky was a no-brainer. Our shared passion for impactful [science-fiction] storytelling with striking artistic vision was immediately evident. We’re honored to support Soft Rains in bringing this story to life.”

About
Ambrosia Sky is a first-person action game about cleaning up after a deadly, sentient contamination. Take on the role of Dalia as she returns to her home in the outer rings of Saturn to investigate strange deaths and the alien contamination that caused them.
Key Features
- Cleanse the Contamination – Ambrosia Sky‘s unique gameplay blends first-person shooter action with meditative cleaning. Use a chemical sprayer to clean fungal contamination, harvest its fruit, and upgrade your gear to survive the crisis.
- Discover an Alien Ecosystem – Each species of alien fungus blurs the line between environment and enemies with their unique behaviors such as fiery explosions, electricity, or actively seeking Dalia out.
- Research and Upgrade Your Equipment – Craft new ammo types that mimic the gameplay abilities of the fungus, upgrade your sprayer for more efficiency, and upgrade your tether to navigate and explore the unstable gravity of the Cluster.
- Lay the Dead to Rest – As you explore, you’ll encounter victims of the crisis and lay them to rest. These scenes reveal the mystery of the crisis and connect the disaster to the lives of the people who fell victim to it.
- Navigate Zero-G Environments – Use a tether device to grab objects, uncover hidden corners of the world, and explore environments with unstable gravity that can change direction and strength at any time.
