Midgar Studio has launched a Kickstarter campaign seeking $38,000 for Hover: Revolt of Gamers, its open-world futuristic free-run / parkour in-line skater inspired by games like Jet Set Radio and Mirror’s Edge.
Players will become skaters tasked with freeing citizens restrained by authorities, and infiltrating the control centers of anti-video games propaganda to retrieve the gaming consoles confiscated from the population, and dethroning the new mayor.
The game will offer cartoon-style graphics, a “grandiose and technologic” environment, “crazy movements,” tricks, and combos, character skill and equipment upgrades, online multiplayer, and more.
At base funding, the game will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux. If funding reaches $100,000, a Wii U version will also be developed. Other stretch goals include: more playable characters at $50,000, a graffiti mode and soundtrack from Hideki Naganuma (Jet Set Radio composer) at $60,000, and double the city size at $80,000.
