#4: Dark Souls III (PS4, XBO, PC)
Hot off the success of Bloodborne, Hidetaka Miyazaki is back to direct Dark Souls III. I’m ashamed to admit I haven’t had a chance to really try the “Souls” games, but I’ve watched a lot of gameplay. I’ve always loved the design, the atmosphere, and cryptic storytelling that fans have come to expect from the series. In an era where games are typically made to be extremely easy, I admire a team going back to old school gaming roots, and creating incredibly challenging experiences for players to overcome. I can only imagine the overwhelming sense of satisfaction when that boss who keeps owning you finally dies by your hand. That experience is one of those epic gaming feelings, and you just can’t get it anywhere else. Let’s all prepare to die over and over again, are you ready? Dark Souls III comes out on April 12th.
