Toukiden Kiwami adds three new weapons, two new characters

Spike club, gun, and naginata confirmed as new weapon types.

Toukiden Kiwami

Famitsu this week introduces three new weapons, two characters, and a new ability for Toukiden Kiwami, the upgraded re-release of last year’s Toukiden: The Age of Demons for PS Vita and PSP.

The first of the new characters this time around is Aiba (相馬), who commands the third company in the elite Hundred Demon Corps and fights with a spiked club. Joining him is Hollow, an amnesiac woman whose weapon of choice is a gun.

New weapons in the game include the previously mentioned spiked club and gun, as well as a naginata.

The spiked club is described as not being a particularly fast crush-type weapon to wield, but nonetheless is powerful in its own right. Its damage output is said to be especially good if an enemy is hit with one of the spiked ends and that variables such as attack speed increase temporarily as more and more hits are landed.

The gun, meanwhile, is a thrust-type weapon reveals enemy weak points to the player; hitting them naturally results in higher damage being dealt. Equipping the gun also enables players to throw out bombs that can then be shot, the effects of which differ based on the type of bullet that’s equipped within the gun, with bullet types said to be numerous.

Finally, the naginata is described as a slash-type that’s good for dishing out consecutive attacks and can also ward off enemy attacks as well.

As for the new ability, it goes by the name “Extreme Destroyer,” which is simply described as an attack that can hit multiple areas simultaneously.
