Batman: Arkham Origins announced

Arkham prequel lands this October.

Batman: Arkham Origins, for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC, has been announced as the cover of May’s Game Informer.

Developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal, and not previous developers Rocksteady Studios, the game is set years prior to Arkham Asylum and Arkham City-a period when a younger Batman encounters a variety of villains for the first time.

Game Informer reports that Origins will run on Rocksteady’s modified Unreal engine, which was used to run previous Arkham titles.

The game will launch on October 25, 2013.

Additionally, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, a “2.5-D Metroid-style exploration action game,” will be released on Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita alongside the home console versions.

Blackgate is being developed by Amarture Studios, previously responsible for the Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection on Vita.

A video has also been released, which contains brief snippets of the new developers talking about Origins. Watch it below.
