Soldner X2 was good. The only problem it had was the unbalance on the chips making Mexxus II too powerful and the Thor ship useless.

I never denied that the 360 has more shmups. But to blow off all the available representations of a genre simply b/c more are represented on another platform is far more annoying and arrogant and truly doesnt deserve a real response.

While I don’t know if I can agree with Magis’ reviews for each game (I’m not a shmup fan, thus have never played them), there are generally many more shmups on Xbox 360 than on PlayStation 3. Here are some lists for comparison:

Under Defeat HD was released for 360 first – G.rev ported it to PS3 for a quick cash-grab, which failed, because the audience simply is not there.

Soldner X and X2 are PC games. They’re also pretty bad.

Rtypes and Delta are PS1 games, not PS2 games.

Sine Mora was originally for XBLA ans is also comically bad.

You’re going to have to try harder, You have a bunch of random, bottom of the barrel ports that no one wants. The PS3 does not have shmups.

Yeah, I believe he once said that he was an early adopter, but I’m not sure if that applies to his NA console or the JP one… EIther way, it must be freaking old. Well, I have no idea what could be done, since consoles are closed platforms. My X360 is a relatively new NTSC-J model, so perhaps that makes the difference. I also install all my X360 games to the HDD.

Either way, I seriously can’t see this game running well on the Vita. Sure, if they crank everything all the way up then yeah, but that would drain the Vita within minutes >__<

So, suppose it’s a hardware problem, can you provide any form of advice that might perhaps help improve the situation then? I mean, my friend seemed unaffected… but it was unbearable for me. Admittedly, from my experience, the frame rate only fluctuates when hordes of enemies come pouring out at every corner, but screen-tearing was more or less a constant sight.

Ehh, dude. You shouldn’t generalise performance based on a sample size of one… though I admit my own experience is also a sample of one.

Might be your friend’s X360? I didn’t have any issues near that bad with my game. It ran relatively smoothly, though not without the occasional screen-tearing and rare slowdown.
