These additional contents better be available for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC at a later time. Interesting read in the link to the Sonic comparison. Seems the 360 and Wii U versions are more stable whereas the PS3 version is the only one running a native 720p. You can definitely tell too. Framerate drops on the PS3 one while the Wii U version has a lot of jaggies doing an ugly candystripe effect. One could argue either way which one is better depending on what you can tolerate, but overall the Wii U version probably edges out.

Crikey, forgot about that DLC. Though arguably EA's decision to release just Mass Effect 3 (and not the trilogy) was even worse. Blurgh.

Still, that DLC argument doesn't really translate over to the original point in question - whether this will indeed be a feature-parity edition of the game.

The lack of DLC in Mass Effect 3 was almost certainly a publisher decision by EA (the same decision has been made not to release more DLC for Most Wanted U on DLC, just like how Vita Most Wanted received no DLC at all), so it's down to Square Enix as to what we'll get.

Either way, best to pass judgement on this one *after* we see it at PAX or on Wednesday.

As for Sonic, the true picture is very different (and it actually renders below native res on GamePad too - I preferred playing on TV for this reason): http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-sonic-all-star-racing-transformed-face-off

Well some worked out sure. Mass Effect though? Didn't it not include any of the DLC and there is no way of getting that DLC either? Maybe the port itself turned out alright, but you can not get the complete experience. You also could get the complete trilogy on the other consoles instead for the same price and that includes a bunch of the DLC.

Things could have changed since the last time I played Sonic Transformed (so please correct me if that is the case), but that game was an ugly mess last time I tried it. Somehow the game looked better on the tablet, but pixelated on a tv screen. It was like it was made for the tablet first and then just stretched to fit a tv.

I think it's worthwhile to trust developers Straight Right on this one. Mass Effect 3: Special Edition was a solid port, and certainly not inferior to the other versions.

While some Wii U ports fell flat on developer promises (as you mentioned Darksiders 2 and Arkham City) there are an equal amount of superior Wii U editions: Need for Speed Most Wanted U, FIFA 13, Skylanders, Sonic Transformed and Trine 2 come to mind, with the first and last noticeably visually superior at it as well (Sonic Transformed only boasts a stable framerate and V-Sync on Wii U).

Other ports did at least add some extra functionality, like Black Ops 2 (on-GamePad play during multiplayer and online with another player on the TV) and Tekken (playing a fighter on a controller with 2ms of lag is a major plus for some), but I don't like including those ones.

Didn't they say this for like every single port and most of them failed to deliver even an equal experience? I think the only port to Wii U that actually did turn out better was AC3. Darksiders 2 and Arkham City were clearly inferior to the original releases.

Wish they'd focus less on playing catch-up and more on new and enjoyable experiences. I don't know a single person that wants $50-60 inferior ports of old games they can buy for under $15 now. Oh, and fix the disgustingly long load times for everything. Make my purchase worth a damn, because I haven't even turned mine on since the month I bought one.
