That’s unfortunate. I find that a really silly reason not to try it! Especially since the Chocobo theme is not even mandatory to listen to.

You don’t have to ride that exact Chocobo. There are 4 different Chocobo themes- 1 composed by Uematsu himself.

This is very much a classic Fantasy game, I highly recommend to give it a shot. I notice your perception of the game is a bit messed up that is why I’m pushing for it. Not to come on to you or anything with it as wrong as that sounds, lol. Just go in open-minded. A lot of people have and come out satisfied with it. In the end, up to you though but would be nice if you didn’t think of the game like that, haha.

But oh well, worry not, I won’t push you for it. xD

The only final fantasy games for me to take interest in are Versus and XV…

It’s the opposite for me now. I’m certain that it will never be released at this point. Or that it will be released as Final Fantasy 15

Yeah. It seems they pretty much announced it when it didn’t even start. Now XIV’s taking up a lot of staff that come from various teams which involve the Production Division 1. XIII, VXIII- I remember reading staff being moved to focus on that. Which slows things down, immensely. It’s unfortunate since its such a big mistake. :/

I agree with you, and I’m a huge fan of Lightning. The fanbase is really torn in regards to the 13 games though. I think it’s pretty much a love or hate affair.

I do understand the frustration when it comes to Versus. They should have never announced it back in like 2006. I don’t think it’s wise to announce a game years in advance, and I think Versus & The last Guardian are great examples of this.

These days, I basically just expect nothing to be said about Versus. When they finally do talk about it, I’ll be more than ready. Until then, I’m just doing my best to not think much about it. As a long time fan, it annoys me too. =/

I think LR sounds great, and I’m excited to see some gameplay footage of it, hopefully soon. I’m not sure if they will show any at this event though.

Eh XIII-2 is a very different game. I’d really suggest giving it a try. Lots of good improvements that you don’t know about. I think its not good to judge without giving it a try.

LR is a big jump, you should read the info up on it.

I don’t think that logic will work here, to be honest. But we’ll see. I don’t think XIII left much of a bad taste at all. I see a lot of love for it, its just a lot of negative opinions are more vocal than positive. It shows when I’m in a variety of public events and such. There’s a difference. XIV however did damage the brand name that much Wada acknowledges. XIII didn’t do much.

I think you should play it. A lot of people who disliked it quite liked the sequel. Good game and good change in various aspects. ^^ Story is good, too, much better game overall. There’s a smooth transition, don’t worry.

True… But Versus was announced during FFXIII in development, before FFXIII left a bad taste to most fans’ mouths…. Thus Versus shouldn’t be affected by the number XIII since people know it’s different during those 6 years of waiting before the sequel to FF XIII was announced…

FF XIII left a bad taste in my mouth so never played the sequel… Despite that, it still doesn’t explain how she managed to get herself into the ‘Become the goddess’ mess in the sequel… You know, at the beginning, the ground suddenly cracks open and Lightning falls in it… That feels random at best… The sequel doesn’t have that smooth story transition from the first one…

And it can be argued that Final Fantasy Versus XIII has that there too! Actually, it is. A lot of people like Lightning and the biggest complaint when I go around, watch playthroughs, read wiki’s, forums, in public, always about Lightning. If we go by the number XIII being there, then Versus won’t sell well. But I think both these games will. Naming has a lot of affect on the general market psychologically. They see that, it can potentially sell well, and showing up at more larger events.

Eh many factors on how her parents possibly died- unknown deaths are common amongst histories and I don’t think it needs to be explained. Her mother was sick I believe. And they explained why she became a goddess quite well. If you missed the cutscene, it was in the datalog too. Should read through it or see that cutscene again!

Not really… The core is still there and it’s called “FF XIII”… I doubt people will differentiates it as long as that name ‘FF’ and that number ‘XIII’ sticking onto it… It’s not hard to miss because those two words stand out the most when looking at Square Enix’s games..

Edit: About the lack of Lightning, I don’t think it’s about her needs to be in more games… But rather, complaints are about not explaining ‘Who Lightning is’… All I know is that she is an ex-soldier whose parents were killed without explanations on why and how, to a goddess and legacy protector out of nowhere in the sequel… It feels tacked on, tbh….

I mean like the “-2” isn’t exactly well associated with the fanbase. A “-3” wouldn’t help either. Then there was complaints at the lack of Lightning which people can deny (not directed at you just general) she is wanted and much more liked. Putting her name first and differentiating it will create potentially more buzz and such. Does that explain it? xD Not saying its a fact or anything, but it’s a smart move and possibly a good one.

I think it’ll sell more with the name being different and if I’m guessing right, it would be more marketing at events rather than viral
