Most of the problems with japanese games this gen have to do with japanese devs (and mostly publishers) not having a clue on how the western markets are, and feeling the need to adapt to a new reality they did not know before. Most of them don't know how the western market works, and some publishers THINK they know how it works, and actually have been doing more harm then good.

It's definitely complicated.

Indeed and so am I.

Im verry happy we have developers that stay true and dont change because someone demands it.

Looking at most of the games that i remeber i can say with easy that "Tales of" is the only one that i can freely say: It didnt change.

It obviously changed in a good way, better graphics, more freedom, more animations, better sound quality, better comabt etc but the true forumla stay the same. *looks at FF and how it changed -_-* and yes im a true FF fan xD.

Glad to see so many are ready to buy Xillia! :)

@gematsu-82aa4b0af34c2313a562076992e50aa3:disqus I want Vesperia for PS3 so bad. For now, I'm just hoping the fan translation project is finished soon. When they finish it, I'll be importing the JP version.

If Namco-Bandai does ever decide to bring the PS3 Vesperia to the west, you can bet I'll still buy it. I still have my 360 version, along with my soundtrack CD.

I saw that. Baba's addressed that multiple times before, so I didn't think it was worth mentioning.

http://gematsu.com/2012/04/tales-fans-interview-series-producer-part-1

"Would you ever consider designing a game for western audiences like a lot of other Japanese studios do now, or will you stick with what you are best at?

The answer is simple and clear. The Tales of series is fundamentally an RPG characterized by the strengths of Japanese RPGs. We will continue to perfect our technical abilities and expression this way.

So, we have no intention to make games specifically for Western audiences by, for example, making them more realistic."

This is an obvious buy, as is graces F/ Eu release. But i really want Vesperia -_- even more than Xillia and Graces F, some say it's not possible to release Vesperia for PS3 in EU/NA but i say it's very easy all Namco needs is the will power and ear to listen to Vesperia fans.

I know it's not that many fans but that doesn't stop Nippon Ichi Software to release countless and even unheard of games "everywhere"

I'm going to, and as a matter of fact. I'm buying a 2nd copy i'll be giving to a friend of mine Adam. So no worries this game will sell well as Graces F has, and will warrant a Tales of Xillia 2 localization release for America & Europe.

I couldn't agree more. And shame on whoever asked such a question. How stereotypical... I hope gamers in Japan don't believe that nonsense. That we western fans demand they change Japanese games to match our taste.

Hell to the no! No one is saying that at all. We love Japanese games for a multitude of reasons, but one is most definitely because they are Japanese!

Sal you forgot about the best part of what Baba-san said in this interview:

"The site asked if Namco Bandai has plans to make a Tales game that
matches the tastes of overseas fans. This will not happen, said Baba.
They plan on continuing their current approach -- make and deliver Tales
games to Japanese users first, and then take the resulting game as is
to overseas users.

Baba does hope to make one change, though: he wants to increase the opportunity to bring the games to overseas fans."

Hideo Baba, setting an example to be followed. Seriously.
