Fantastic presentation. It was great to see such a decent and thoughtful discussion on this issue, rather than the usual Internet babble. I personally enjoy art styles from both East and West, and find they compliment each other well depending on the feelings presented in the game. I will admit that I tend to enjoy more Japanese art styles than certain western ones, but I also love the traditional look of many WRPG's etc. The only thing I generally dislike is when a Japanese developer tries too hard to appear 'western', and the entire experience suffers because of it.

I loved the art works at the end, and have no preference as to which one is better. The black and white drawing was excellently sketched, and the FFXII image was colourful and masterly drawn. Again, brilliant discussion. Thanks a lot for getting it filmed and uploaded for all to see!

Both FF 13 & DEUS EX simply have some of the best artwork/design aesthetic ever created. I personally think eastern stylization is always better than western. The interesting thing here is that DEUS EX is very Japanese inspired (SNATCHER, MGS, GHOST IN THE SHELL, etc.) I bow to the visionary art masters that crafted both titles. & THEY REALLY NEED FULL-SIZED ARTBOOKS AS WELL. Please..

is it that one in black and white? i mean as an eastern deux ex?

haven't watched the videos yet because they're long, and my internet speed today sux. so kindly correct me if i'm wrong, but i think the most important part of western vs eastern art is the faces of the characters.

based on the pics two above, not only can i not tell which one is better, i also can't tell how they're renditions of each other worked out. exercise fail?
