XCOM, 2K Games and 2K Marin’s upcoming sci-fi thriller FPS, will launch in North America on March 9, 2012. Originally announced for Xbox 360 and PC, the game will also arrive on PlayStation 3. Set in mid-century America, XCOM leads an elite field team of government agents into battle, utilizing gunplay and sci-fi abilities, against otherworldly enemies.
“Every time I think of XCOM it gives me the chills, the kind that come from standing witness to the corruption and destruction of your world as you stand powerless to prevent it,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “I’m pleased to announce today that we will be bringing this experience to an even broader audience when XCOM comes to the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in March 2012.”
XCOM has Special Agent William Carter and his team of agents fighting the threat of human extinction on the battlefield of ‘Main Street, USA’. Otherworldly enemies, though dangerous, provide the chance to gain new technology, so every enemy must be taken down “surgically.” With this method, players gain new weapons, allowing for use against new enemies.
The shooter will be on display at E3, next week. Check out the E3 trailer below.
