Mega rumor incoming. After announcing the death of the Guitar Hero franchise, and cancelling the nearly complete True Crime, rumor has it that Activision‘s eying Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two.
If true, not only would Activision have the highly successful Call of Duty and World of Warcraft franchises under their name, but also the likes of Grand Theft Auto, BioShock, and other successful Take-Two properties.
“There are very strong rumors amongst people at a very senior level within the global business,” a senior executive told MCV.
“But there’re not much more than that at the moment – they are just rumors. And, of course, given Activision’s news this week, everyone is now looking to see what their next move is. But you can definitely put two and two together and make four-ish.”
MCV suggests that the cancellation of True Crime: Hong Kong may have been made as a sacrifice for an Activision-published Grand Theft Auto.
According to their source, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick still has a huge desire to pave way for the company as the world’s leading publisher.
