Spiderman 2099 was the first in a failed series of Marvel characters set in a far reaching future.

The Spidey comics were really great, at least in the beginning. I'm pretty sure I still have the first few issues somewhere.

The best moment in the origin comic was when Miguel (he didn't look Hispanic) realized that he climbed walls with his rather huge claws that protruded from his fingertips. Kind of like the claws in the Spider-Man movie but way, way bigger like huge, long fingernails that retract like Wolverine's claws.

He awoke to realize that he'd torn his sheets to shreds with his new claws and realized that the claws automatically retracted when he touched his own skin. He lamented, "...good thing too as going to the bathroom would be beyond dangerous".

If you can find the first 10 to 15 issues I recommend it.
